That’s shifting, and Panorama Valley, a new project by Ewa Marais, president and co-founder of the desert design/build firm Baltic Sands, is at the forefront. Working with architect Mark W.Daniels of MWDA, Marais is developing a community of six homes reflecting a development approach that prioritizes lboth high design and long-term infrastructure.  Early on, the project secured water access and installed underground electrical service across previously unserved land, preserving open desert sightlines and protecting night-sky visibility in a region where utilities are often installed after construction. The first home has been completed—a minimalist, impeccably detailed 4-bed, 4-bath pavilion set on six acres of an unapologetic desert landscape. In terms of sophisitcation, it’s the kind of dwelling you’d find on a rocky Greek island, or Pantelleria.

The roof deck is perfect for sunsets, stargazing and sunrises. Inside the restrained interiors offer plenty of room for entertaining with perfectly framed desert views.
